Archbishop Husik Santurian (1920-2011). |

three decades (through 2000) served as the Grand Sacristan of the Mother
Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin. He was honored by His Holiness Karekin
II, Catholicos of All Armenians with the "Order of St. Gregory the
Illuminator.”
The last rites and interment service will be held on February 3, at
the monastery of St. Gayane, in whose cemetery Archbishop Husik will be

In Memoriam: Fr. Paree Metjian (1938-2011)

Fr. Paree Metjian (1938-2011). |
With deep sorrow, the Eastern Diocese mourns the passing of the Reverend Fr. Paree Metjian, who departed this life on Friday, January 28, 2011, in his home. He was 73.
In his pastoral service to parishes in Greenfield, Fair Lawn, and
Wynnewood—and prior to that, his service as a deacon in Worcester and
Houston—Fr. Metjian devoted his whole heart to making Christ the central
focus of parish life. His interest in strengthening the family led him
to earn a doctoral degree in family counseling. His ministry to our
youth led him to become the "godfather” of St. Vartan Camp, which he was
instrumental in establishing and building up. The Diocesan camp program
is still animated by the spirit of Armenian Christian piety that Fr.
Metjian advanced in those formative years. He retired from active
pastoral service in 2002. (To read about Fr. Metjian’s ministry, click here.)
The wake service for Fr. Metjian will take place on Friday, February
4, at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Sahag and St. Mesrob Church of Wynnewood,
Pa. The Final Anointing and Burial will take place on Saturday, February
5, also at the St. Sahag and St. Mesrob Church; the Divine Liturgy will
begin at 10:30 a.m.
On Sunday, March 13, Diocesan parishes will perform a special hokehankisd service for the repose of Fr. Paree Metjian’s soul, on the 40th day of his passing.
